Gilding and Verre Eglomise
Gilding refers to the application or real gold & silver leaf by means of water or mordant gilding. Verre eglomise, which is the art of gilding onto the reverse side of glass, is a method of mirror which predates mercury glass. It is a finish, if used with finesse, that can be effective in both a contemporary and traditional setting. The work featured has been commissioned by Mark Gillette Interior Design, Lister Carter Design, Amanda Gallagher Designs, Oliver Steer Interior Design, NEJ Stevenson & Co Ltd and Brian Lawrence Interior Design.
